Using 'My TRS'

Why Use My TRS?

Active Members

Active (non-retired) members who log into My TRS can:
  • View their member account, creditable service balance, and contribution history
  • View and update their beneficiaries
  • View and update their mailing address and contact information
  • Run an estimate of future retirement benefits (if vested)
  • View or print a copy of their most recent annual statement
  • Check on the status of any service purchases in progress
  • Apply for withdrawal (refund) – if terminating all TRS-reportable employment

Benefit Recipients

TRS retirees and others who receive monthly benefits can:

  • View their payment history and current tax withholding
  • See how changing their tax withholding would affect their net monthly benefit
  • View the mailing address currently on file with TRS
  • View and update their email address and phone numbers
  • View their current beneficiary designation or joint annuitant
  • Download a copy of their most recent IRS 1099-R (February 15 or later)
  • Print an informal Verification of Benefits letter
Working retirees also can:
  • Review the date on which their break-in-service period will end, if applicable
  • Check to see whether their reported earnings are approaching the annual limit

Creating Your User Account

If you haven't yet created a user account for My TRS:, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Login button at the top of the page, then click the link for My TRS
  2. On the Login page, click the link labeled "Create Account"
  3. Enter your last name, birth date, and SSN to locate your membership.
If your membership is verified:
Follow instructions to set up your username, password, and other security features.

If your membership is NOT verified:
Don't worry! It might mean, for example, that your name in spelled slightly differently in the TRS database. A brief phone call usually is all it takes to confirm your identity and resolve the issue.
